Grandma Liz's Famous Apple Pie Filling

Description Grandma never wrote this down. I learned by baking with her in the 90s. She made this recipe for 60 years and people always raved over it. I continue to make it today and people just love it. It is a family tradition! Use this with Grandma's Pie Crust . Ingredients 3 lb apples (Gala, Fuji, Red are ok, granny for tart), skinned and sliced to wedges 1 cup sugar (or more to taste) 2 tbl cinnamon (grandma always said you can never add enough) 1 tbl lemon juice (grandma used lemon and Lisa uses lime) 2 tbl butter salted (real butter is a must) 1/4 cup flour sifted Serves 16 or two 8 inch pies. Steps 1. Put sliced apples, sugar, and cinnamon into large pot on a medium heat and keep stirring. 2. After sugar melts, put in butter and lemon juice and taste. If the sugar is to the sweetness you like, move on. Otherwise add sugar to make sweeter or lemon juice to make more tart. Don't go crazy with lime juice.  3. Sift flower over top of stewed apples.
