Easy Buttery Cobbler
Description
This tasty dish is so easy to make. Below are directions for making the fruit from scratch but you can use canned and frozen fruits too. The smell is to die for and this is fantastic warm with vanilla ice cream.
Serves 12
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup milk
Brown sugar and cinnamon
Fruit Options
- Peach: Mix 4 cups fresh peach slices, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional) into a boiling pan. Cook for 10 minutes over medium heat making sure to stir the whole time. Cool.
- Apple: Mix 4 cups of peeled, sliced apples, 1 cup sugar, 2 tbl flour, 1 tbl cinnamon into a boiling pan.Cook for 10 minutes over medium heat making sure to stir the whole time. Cool
- Canned: Use 32oz canned in syrup, drained
- Frozen: Thaw 4 cups. Drain and add sugar to taste. Depending on the fruit, you will need to cook like the fresh fruit add lemon juice and cinnamon too.
Step 1
Melt butter in a 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt and stir.
Step 3
Add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
Step 3
Pour fruit option over the batter byt do not stir. It helps to use a large spoon and blop it on so it drops into the pan somewhat evenly.
Step 4
Bake at 375° for 30 and remove over oven to sprinkle brown sugar lightly over the top. Return to the oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Serve cobbler warm or cool as desired.
